  • The job of the artist is to always deepen the mystery...

The Welsh Government is looking for your views.

This time, it's about what schools are doing to encourage young people to take part in the arts - drama, dance, creative writing, music and the visual arts.

There will be three regional events to hear people's views, and they are all across Wales:

  • One will be held on Monday 4 February 3pm-5pm at the Welsh Government offices, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ

  • The second will be held in Oriel Mostyn, 12 Vaughan Street, Llandudno LL30 1AB on Thursday 21 February 3pm-5pm

  • And the last one will be on Tuesday 26 February 3pm-5pm at Haliwell Centre, Trinity College, Carmarthen SA31 3EP

If you have an interest in attending and having your say on the arts in schools, just book a place with artsbranchmailbox@wales.gsi.gov.uk, saying which event you'd like to attend.

But make sure you're quick, as places are limited. Also, if you are interested in attending, you'll need to book your place by Monday 21 January.

I can't make it to any of the events due to work, college and transport, but in general I'm all for art and personal expression. It can bring people together, change how we look at things and just makes the world more interesting.

Unfortunately, jobs that come from education in arts seem to be quite slim, at least it seems that way to an outsider. So maybe that's why people don't choose to develop artistic skills in schools. So, maybe its lack of incentive for the students to take it up as well as the schools not encouraging it.

Got something to say?
